Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs
When a child is experiencing difficulties in one of these areas, Janine uses a variety of tools to facilitate a better understanding of the underlying issues behind the concerning behaviour.
Difficulties may include such things as challenging behaviour, anxiety/withdrawal, school refusal or difficulties with social interactions. The child may or may not have a diagnosed condition such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism or Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
Janine uses a holistic approach, looking at both the child and the context in which the difficulty occurs (e.g. home and/or school). This approach recognises the communicative intent behind the child's behaviour and enables a problem solving process in which change is faciliated.
Janine provides either a one-off assessment or a series of consultations.
